July 2019 U.S. Employment Situation

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 164,000 in July, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Notable job gains occurred in professional and technical services, health care, social assistance, and financial activities.

June 2019 Ohio and U.S. Employment Situation

Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.0 percent in June 2019, down from 4.1 percent in May. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 1,500 over the month, from a revised 5,589,400 in May to 5,590,900 in June 2019.

Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in May 2019, down from a revised 4.2 percent in April. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased 3,900 over the month, from a revised 5,597,500 in April to 5,593,600 in May 2019.

Total nonfarm payroll employment edged up in May (+75,000), and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services and in health care.
