Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in March 2019, down from 4.6 percent in February. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 6,300 over the month, from a revised 5,593,200 in February to 5,599,500 in March 2019.

March 2019 U.S. Employment Situation

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 196,000 in March, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.8 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Notable job gains occurred in health care and in professional and technical services.

February 2019 Ohio and U.S. Employment Situation

Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in February 2019, down from 4.7 percent in January. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased 8,200 over the month, from a revised 5,602,400 in January to 5,594,200 in February 2019.

February 2019 U.S. Employment Situation

Total nonfarm payroll employment changed little in February (+20,000), and the unemployment rate declined to 3.8 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment in professional and business services, health care, and wholesale trade continued to trend up, while construction employment decreased.

January 2019 Ohio and U.S. Employment Situation

Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in January 2019, up from a revised 4.6 percent in December. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 20,300 over the month, from a revised 5,583,300 in December to 5,603,600 in January 2019.
